Actual bought this before buying the tv, e-mail specified delivery date but it arrived well before it. I bought the tv from Amazon as well Toshiba RV555BD they were both delivered together, the packaging in the box the stand came you could possibly make a small cabinet from, it can be assembled by 1 person but you need 2 to turn it over and position, i can honestly say it is a great piece of furniture it compliments the tv well as the glass shelves have a back border the same colour as the tv surround, currently i have on the shelves a dvd, sky+ box on the botom shelf still room available , on the smaller shelf micro hifi and wii console standing on it's end minus the wii stand and still plenty of room to spare, overall we are pleased we bought this unit and the position it's in now have gained about 2 foot of living space back. Have seen unit i think not as good as this one at vastly inflated prices.

The GT8 is a very nice looking stand. It came well packed and was easy to build.
I have it in a corner and my 40" LCD looks great on it.
The clear glass shelves make it easier to connect up your equipment as you can see what you doing.
One thing to check is the depth of your AV equipment as my Panasonic DVD recorder was too deep to go on the shelf (hung over the front edge due to the scart connectors on the back hitting the posts) so I swapped it with another DVD player.

Great Looking Stand, 17 Mar 2008

Ordered this stand last week, and am really pleased with it.

I actually phoned up the company and ordered it direct with them (as I needed it delivered on a Saturday, and I couldn't specify this via Amazon). They were able to organise a Saturday delivery (for a £15 premium - but that's worth it for the convenience I think).

I was a bit worried about it turning up broken, the majority of it being being made of glass (and bearing in mind the review below which mentioned a broken delivery), but when I spoke to the company, they told me to write "tatty box" on the delivery guy's sheet when I signed for it, so if it was broken, they would rpelace it immediately for me.

I needn't have worried though, as it turned up packed extremely securely, with a lot of polystyrene, and the box itself had wooden slats inside to provide strength to the box and stop things moving about in transit.

The unit was very easy to put together, took about 15-20 minutes, didn't need any tools (just the alan key that was in the box), and it is now sitting in the corner of my room with a 40" Sony x-series on it, and it looks awesome.

All in all, would thoroughly reccomend it, easy to make, looks great and at sub £100, is a bargain versus the competion.

A great desk! (Just check your measurements), 16 Feb 2011

The desk turned up promptly in two boxes. Upon starting assembly I found that every part had been labelled with the corresponding number from the instructions, which was great as there are alot of part to this desk - even the bags of screws were labelled with numbers and sizes. It went together quite easily and took me just over an hour assemble. Unfortunatly then I hit a couple of problems.

My PC tower unit wouldnt fit in the right hand column space - it was too tall. By the time it was assembled it wouldve been alot of work to remove the shelf above like some other reviewers did. Also the drawers were not big enough to house normal A4 Lever arch binders.

Even so I would recommend this desk but check all your measurements first!!

I can only agree with the previous reviews of this desk. The item was delivered speedily and was also well packaged. All the component parts were clearly labelled and the assembly instructions clear. I was particularly impressed by how each of the different sized screws were separately bagged, therefore no need to scramble through a pile of assorted screws trying to work out which one was 13.7mm long. The bag of spares, containing one of each type was a nice touch too. Assembly was quite easy although I do recommend an electric or ratchet screwdriver rather than using the small screwdriver provided. Once assembled, the desk is very sturdy with plenty of space for everything my 9 year old daughter wants to shove on or in it and the drawers move smoothly and silently. I had no problem fitting a large tower computer in the space with the shelf removed (just remember not to fit the shelf during assembly as there's no easy way to remove it once the desk is complete). In summary, it is a well constructed desk of high quality and is extremely good value for money. I would have no hesitation in using Piranha Trading in the future and will definitely be buying another for my son.

Fantastic bit of kit, very easy to follow instructions, (spare screw, fasteners included), all items bagged and labelled so very straight forward process.
Table is fantastic and sturdy, plenty of surface area, 15.6 " laptop, all-in-one scanner/printer and 22" monitor fit on the desk ( monitor on the printer stand ).
Antec 300 case fit's in the tower slot with the shelve above removed ( no affect on stability or structural integrity of the desk )
Cable tidy holes ideal for all my cables attached, however did leave out the black covers so l could route all my cables through :) as l have on or two.
Drawers are good for all my cables and dvd cases ( placed flat ), one nice surprise was the shelf above the two drawers slides out and is ideal for my netbook to
hide when not in use.
Keyboard shelf is very smooth in movement and feels very secure with no wobble or unwanted noise when typing.

Five stars well deserved, cracking price and excellent delivery timings.

Fit for purpose, 3 April 2011

For those who say this is not sturdy and wobbles - it does have 'flexiblity' but it is nothing out of the ordinary and considering its price; the small wobble is to be expected. Don't let this put you off as it isnt a drastic wobble, it is more a flexible movement.

All that said it is more than adequate for its purpose, i have on mine starting from the bottom a Mission M-Cube subwoofer - which fits almost perfectly, this alone will help take the weight of items above.
2nd to bottom shelf has my Wii Fit balance board (simply for storage)
3rd shelf has my wii stood upright and my donated cassette player, behind the cassette player it also hides a upscaling box that converts my wii signal to be used with a PC monitor.
Top shelf has my Onkyo 507 amplifier

The shelf is very rigid/sturdy and blends in nicely with my desk, which is also beech.

One thing i would like to see though is the option to buy add-ons to the shelves, so if i wanted to expand another shelf on top i could buy that - not essential but would be nice.

Over all, very fit for my needs and looks good with the rest of my beech furniture.

This is a fantastic TV entertainment unit! It is very sturdy and it is so easy to put together! I put it together in 5 minutes flat. The legs simply screw together, which sounds very flimsy, but I can assure you its not. The legs are plastic, but very very tough. It is a good heavy bit of furniture. My husband uses it for his cisco routers (the first two shelves). Then the other shelves hold our printer and other bits and pieces. It is loaded with very heavy equipment, but it isn't struggling in the slightest.

I recommend this piece of furniture. I would say it is perfect for a childs bedroom, for their TV, playstation/xbox/wii etc, Video/DVD and CD player.
